The Printers We Use
Our Kodak RP30 and Agfa D Lab 2 Printers use Lasers to expose Digital Images onto color photographic paper up to 12x18 size. Our Durst Lambda Printer exposes Digital Images onto color photographic paper up to 50"x(as long as you'd like to go) using Lasers. These printers work with RGB Tiff files or jpegs. We use HP Z2100 24" and HP Z3100 44" Printers as well as an HP Z3100 44" Printer wide format inkjet printer with Vivera inks to produce wide format inkjet prints and Canvas Gallery Wraps.

Archival Properties
We use Kodak Supra Endura VC and Ultra Endura VC photographic paper (prints up to 50" wide). For more information, visit Kodak's web site. For wide-format inkjet prints up to 42" wide we use HP Premium inkjet papers, Hahnemuhle Art Papers, Ilford and Harman Fine Art Papers and Epson Premium inkjet papers.

Tiffs or jpegs?
We suggest jpegs. We preferred Tiffs in the past, because every time you saved a jpeg file, the compression slightly degraded the quality of your image. With PhotoShop 7, CS up to CS5, Adobe has developed better compression algorithms with very little image degradation. If you use jpegs, save them at highest quality (level 12).

RGB vs CMYK
We work with images in the RGB color space. RGB is the color space used to produce continuous tone images, like photographs. CMYK is used to produce 4-color separations for printing press jobs, and has a smaller gamut than RGB. Within the RGB Color space, we suggest using Adobe RGB (instead of sRGB) because this Profile will result in better skintones and better overall color.

Why use FTP instead of S.O.S.?
For non-standard sized files (e.g. 23.25 x 33.625) requiring Custom Printing, for non-standard file formats (RAW, PDF, EPS) and for multi-image Auto Collage Prints.

Preparing FTP Files for Output

In PhotoShop (or your preferred image editing program) set Image Size to the required size at a resolution of 300 or 400 ppi for prints up to 12x18, 200 or 400 ppi for prints between 12x18 and 50x(as long as you'd like) and 180 ppi - 360 ppi for wide format inkjet prints. Remove any extra layers or channels from the images. Please do not use ANY compression on Tiff files.

There is a minimum $5.00 file fix fee (or Custom Pricing) for re-sizing files (Non S.O.S. orders), removing extra layers, channels, formatting, etc
