FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a way to move your digital image files directly
from your computer to our FTP server over the internet. An FTP
Client program of some kind is needed to communicate with an
FTP server. Our S.O.S. system allows you to perform these transfers in a more automated way.
There are 2 basic ways to set up
your FTP Client - Using the Internet Explorer browser or through a separate FTP Client program.
If you would
like us to set up your own FTP mailbox with your own private User ID and
password, please contact us.
WINDOWS
2000 using Internet
Explorer:
Open
your IE browser window. In the address bar, type: ftp://67.71.214.210 and then press return on your
keyboard.
You'll
be prompted with a "Login As" box.
We
have a folder available to the public called Files.
To log into this folder, in the User Name window,
type files and in the Password window, type password. Then click your mouse on
the Login button. The "Login As"
box should close, leaving the browser window, as on the right, below.
Now
you are ready to send us files.
We
suggest placing your file(s) in a folder on your computer. Give
the folder a name such as the date sent and your name or customer
number (e.g. 040304-A123 would be a folder sent on the 3rd of April,
2004 by Customer #A123).
Drag
the folder onto the browser window and the file(s) will start to
transfer to us. Transfer time depends on your internet connection
and the size of files being sent.
Once
the files have been sent, please send us an e-mail to files@silvanoimaging.com,
letting us know who you are (Name and/or Customer Number), how to
contact you (Address, Phone number), what you'd like us to do with
your files (Order information) and whether you'll be picking up
the order or we'll be shipping it. |

FTP
Client Program
Mac
OS 9.x.x:
We
didn't have luck tranferring files with IE, so
we downloaded a copy of Fetch (available from www.fetchsoftworks.com).
Double-click on the Fetch icon. (Please note that
other FTP client programs exist and can be found at www.downloads.com)
The New Connection Box pops up on the screen. In the Host Box, type 67.71.214.210.
For User ID, type files. And Password is password. Click on the OK button
to close the New Connection Box.
Another
box, like the one on the lower right appears, with 67.71.214.210
in the Title Bar. As in the IE example, you are now ready to send
us files.
We
suggest placing your file(s) in a folder on your computer. Give
the folder a name such as the date sent and your name or Customer
Number (e.g. 040304-A123 would be a folder sent on the 3rd of April,
2004 by Customer #A123).
Drag
the folder onto the browser window and the file(s) will start to
transfer to us. Transfer time depends on your internet connection
and the size of files being sent.
Once
the files have been sent, please send an e-mail to files@silvanoimaging.com,
letting us know who you are (Name and/or Customer Number), how to

Mac
OS X.x:
We
didn't have much luck with the Connect to Server feature in OSX.3,
so we downloaded Fetch again. The procedure is
pretty much the same, as you can see from these 3 screen shots. |

Windows
98:
We
only had partial success using IE as an FTP Client
in Windows 98. So we downloaded a copy of WS_FTP LE from www.ipswitch.com (you are welcome to use any of the many other
Windows FTP clients out there).
From
the START menu, navigate up to Programs > WS_ftp > WS-FTPLE.
The Session Properties Box should pop up. In the Profile
Name window type in any name (in this case we used "silvanotest").
For Host Name/Address, type in 67.71.214.210.
Choose Automatic detect for your Host Type. User ID is files and Password is password. Click on the OK button.
In
the WS-FTP box, your computer directories are on
the left side and the Remote Site (Silvano's) is on the right side.
Place your file(s) in a folder on your computer.
Give
the folder a name such as the date sent and your name or Customer
Number (e.g. 040304-A123 would be a folder sent on the 3rd of April,
2004 by Customer #A123).
Navigate
the left side of the WS-FTP box to that folder.
Press the --> button to start transferring the
files .
Once
the files have been sent, please send an e-mail to files@silvanoimaging.com,
letting us know who you are (Name and/or Customer Number), how to
contact you (Address, Phone number), what you'd like us to do with
your files (Order information) and whether you'll be picking up
the order or we'll be shipping it. |
